hello again! talking about tech..

heyo blogosphere!

firstly, i’m having major issues replying to comments. when i go into the comment section and try to reply, it shows me THIS:

i try to sign in, it wants me to use my main account, then i try to change to my account that this blog is linked to. it looks like success! i go back to my blog and nothing has changed. the cycle continues.

in order to combat this, i shall reply here. not likely you lovely commenters will see this, but such is life. zaph [which i’m assuming is short for zaphod? goated name choice], and lily [who was the one who inspired so many people, myself included, to get into blogging], thank you for your lovely comments! i can’t wait to read more of your bloggings :D

----

since february last year, i've been thinking a lot [as i assume a lot of other people have been too] about unplugging and going back to more single use devices. i stripped back my iphone to almost a dumbphone [texts, calls, banking, maps, and itunes music], and learned how to convert to mp3 most of my spotify. i’m almost done downloading my playlist to mp3, then i will be rid of spotify and streaming FOR GOOD! :3

i’m working on turning my ipad into just a creative art station, as well as reading, journalling, mind mapping etc.

not sure if you have heard of the idea of “desktop being a destination”? desktop cannot come with us, desktop sits on the coffee table and contains what little social media i have, as well as this blog ehehe :]

on that note, although i do see a lot of people getting ipods, single use music players, i feel still that it is a bit of a trend. and the majority may return to the streaming services that have played the long game to get people hooked and addicted to the sheer amount of available songs and instant gratification. i know that getting access to devices and going back to analog may be worth the “trendy” aspect of it at the moment, if that makes sense?

but sigh

would love to hear your opinions on the return to analog? and maybe next time i will yap a little more about “the split”, which is a near future social concept a few people have been talking about.

  1. Returning to analogue and single purpose devices might be a trend to some or even a majority of people, for one reason or another, but that does not mean the rest of us cannot enjoy it in the meanwhile and onwards. It feels nostalgic. And with the amount of advertisements plaguing our eyes most anywhere we look, turning away from that en masse becomes a pleasant escape. I hope it sticks around.

    1. trying out commenting like this… thank you so much for sharing! you know, i really feel you there about advertisements clogging our feeds, our eyes, our brains. single use devices limit this in such an effective way, even single use websites like this! :D

    2. Absolutely. Also! What helped me with the issue about commenting, is using a separate "container tab" where I am only logged into my blog email. It is annoying and an inconvenience, but maybe I don't mind being inconvenienced just a little.

    4. It is unnecessarily complicated having to change browser completely or container tab just to blog, but I'm glad you worked it out in the end.

  2. I had trouble with replying to comments too and actually had to switch browsers to Chrome from Firefox just to comment :(
And yeah, Zaph is short for Zaphod! Chose the name when I was thirteen based on my favourite book series ever to this day :)
I love your resolution to go more analog! I agree that the trends of switching to physical media, like buying more iPods and flip phones, seem still quite consumerist to me. My compromise has been to convert what I already have into an MP3 player, which in my case, is my 3ds!! It's super cute and has scrolling backgrounds and sound modulators that go with the songs.
I think, if you're committed to the return to analog (which, based on your blog theme, I believe you are lol), I don't think there's anything wrong with the trendy aspect of it. All that'll happen is years will go by and those who treated it like a trend will leave, while the ones who are committed will stay, and be better off for it!

    1. tysm for the tip about chrome, i am putting aside my avoidance of any google interaction just to get this blog to work. i care about it too much. of course google and google websites are designed to work perfectly together, so this is now working compatibly! yippee ?
i Love the sound of your little mp3 project! i only just learned that the 3ds (or most portable consoles) have an mp3 player built in. we have a 2ds-xl, so hoping to do the same thing soon!
and very good points, sometimes the trend is worth it for the people who will actually stick it out for good :]
